The photos above are obviously my
grandma Clara Whitford. The boy in
the photo to the left is my father John
at about age 5. Directly above is a
photo that was taken north of
grandma's house and you can see the
Carter Congregational Church in the
background. The town of Carter, SD
was disbanded when there were no
longer enough residents to fill the town
board positions. The letter below is a
letter from my Great Grandmother to
my Grandmother that was written for
her 40th birthday in 1950. It is a nice
narrative of the time around her birth.
